Anchoring – An anchor is a device, normally made of metal, used to connect a vessel to the bed of a body of water to prevent the craft from drifting due to wind or current. The anchor keeps the vessel from drifting away, due to current or wind. It fixes the vessel to a certain position. Anchors dig into the bottom rather than holding by immovable weight. To do this they have flukes to dig into softer bottoms or to find a crevice in hard bottoms. We can anchor ANYTHING.

We have the correct type & size of anchor for your job. We can choose the correct anchorage for your vessel/structure. We are able to work out the scope for your chain and ensure that the rode is layed out evenly. Setting the anchor is a crucial step in the anchoring process. We will ensure that your anchor is set correctly so it does not move.
We are Regional Council approved to provide mooring inspections and maintenance.
Mooring – Any permanent structure to which a vessel may be secured. Examples include quays, wharfs, jetties, piers, anchor buoys, and mooring buoys. A ship is secured to a mooring to forestall free movement of the ship on the water. An anchor mooring fixes a vessel’s position relative to a point on the bottom of a waterway without connecting the vessel to shore.
As your mooring inspection contractor we will;
- Ensure that a chafe guard is fitted to protect both headline and vessel;
- Check for wear on the headline,
- Ensure the mooring tag is clearly visible on a handled pickup buoy
- Check that lift floats are adequate to ensure that the buoy remains visible at high tide when the vessel is away.
- Ensure the headline is still moving freely. Marine growth and seasonal sea lettuce in the harbour can often cause moorings to be pulled under.
Mooring System we use
Swing moorings also known as simple or single-point moorings, are the simplest and most common kind of mooring. A swing mooring consists of a single anchor at the bottom of a waterway with a rode (a rope, cable, or chain) running to a float on the surface.
Screw Anchors offer a permanent mooring system with no moving parts. Their ease of installation makes them cost competitive and once you have established your anchoring requirements they can be tailor made to suit any situation. They are environmentally friendly both during and after installation, disturbing only 1 meter of seabed for a short period during installation.
